Dr Phil sent me this great Workshop On the Go from Close to My Heart to work with. This one is called Surf’s up and it’s a beach, fun in the sun themed collection. The easy to follow instructions on how to make this layout were included in the package. I customized a few little things here and there, but this is the layout. It’s a double page spread, which I really like. I decided to use some canoeing pics from a long time ago. (I also misspelled canoeing on my layout! Always spell check!!!) These are some of the highlights of canoeing from several summers. There was the best little river to canoe on where I used to live. I really miss it!
This is the basic layout of the left page using the instructions provided, with an added embellishment at the top of the picture. I also added inkblots with the sparkles. I also changed up which patterned papers I used to keep it with my theme and match my pictures. I like that even though the design is great and the instructions are easy to follow, you can customize it to suit your own taste.
For instance the journaling spot was suggested on the instructions, but it was optional. I opted to use it because I am trying to include more journaling, but you could totally leave it off and the LO would still look great!
These fun pin wheel embellishments were included in the Surf’s Up Workshop On the Go package.
This great arrow stamp is included in the Surf’s Up Workshop On the Go. In fact, this stamp set is exclusive to this kit. The instructions say to stamp this in a turquoise color on white cardstock, but I chose to stamp the chocolate brown cardstock with the White Daisy Ink. I thought it looked like a rustic wooden sign, much like what you would see on the river.
Here’s more of that exclusive stamp set. I really like the wooden sign and the sun!
And here’s the embellishment that I added to the layout. I thought it just looked nice here =)
Here is the right side of the LO. This was great because I got to put three pics on it, but it doesn’t feel crowded. The instructions called for 3×3’s which works great if you have Instagram pics, or, like me, you needed to crop your pics down anyway. You could also customize this to fit slightly larger pics, or even a different aspect ratio, like 3 1/2×5’s.
The Surf’s Up Workshop On the Go came with the best little buttons. They are actually wooden buttons with a painted on design. How cool is that?!?
Notice the little word strips? Here was a great little surprise: On one of the Zipstrips on the paper was the definition of summer! Love it! I just cut it apart like the instructions said and made sunshine rays with it =)
Here’s that arrow stamp again. I moved it to the other side of this picture. Again, the instructions are completely customizable.
Here are some sparkles with the inkblots. I added the ink blots because they kind of looked like bubbles floating in water.
The Workshops On the Go kits are a great way to learn new techniques, put together a great LO really quickly, or get yourself out of a creative rut. Whether you are an experienced crafter or new to scrapbooking, I highly recommend trying one =)
